Wide Tube is a collection of images taken with a 35mm film camera in the ‘tube’, the underground network system of London. The purpose of the series was not expressly to offer a documentary approach to the environment. But rather to focus in some aspects of human interaction and performance that took place in this specific setting around 2011. I was interested in the tension that transpires at sharing that ‘private’ waiting time with other passengers. As well, I was captivated by the way people perform their self-person for the public eye or the camera eye, and, at the same time, observe silently the performance of others.
